Short version: the calculators do not send anything anywhere, and the mailing list is opt-in twice, one click to leave, and never sold.

The calculators send nothing
Every calculator on this site, including the audit and the six section report at the water plan, runs entirely in your browser. Your household size, your stored gallons and your answers are not uploaded, not logged and not stored on a server. Close the tab and they are gone.
Your answers do appear in the address bar, which is what makes a finished plan a link you can send to somebody. Treat that link the way you would treat any note about your household: anyone you send it to can read the numbers in it.
Nothing is behind an email address
No calculator, no result and no part of the report is gated. There is no account, no paywall, no popup asking for an address before you can see your own number, and no timer pretending an offer is about to end. If you never give an address, the site works exactly the same.
If you join the mailing list
One form on this site asks for an email address, and it only appears after your report is already on screen. Joining is double opt-in:
- You type your address and submit the form.
- One confirmation email arrives. Nothing else is sent, and you are not on the list yet.
- You click the link in it. Only then does anything else arrive. Ignore that email and the record is dropped.
Exactly what gets sent
Your address, plus the values below, which are the numbers your own answers produced. They travel with the address so the reminders can be about your household rather than generic:

That is the whole list. No name, no address, no phone number, no payment details, and nothing about anyone else in your household beyond how many of them there are.
What arrives, and how often
Your report as a link, then a reminder on the rotation date your own answers produced, then one seasonal check a year. Roughly one email a month, and fewer in a quiet year. When there is nothing useful to say, nothing gets sent.
Leaving
One click, in the footer of every email, no login and no confirmation step. The record is deleted rather than flagged. You can also reply to any email and ask, which does the same thing more slowly.
Selling and sharing
The list is never sold, rented, traded or shared. It is held by an email service provider , which is not connected yet, so at the moment there is no list at all.
Analytics, ads and cookies
This site runs Google Analytics. It counts visits and tells us which pages and which calculators actually get used, which is how the build order gets decided. It sets cookies in your browser, and it tells Google the page you are on, the page you came from, and roughly what device you are using. Your IP address reaches Google with the request, which uses it to place the visit in a country and region rather than storing it.
What it never receives is your answers. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to Google: no gallons, no household size, no result, no email address. Those values stay in the page and in the URL you can choose to share, and no event on this site carries one.
That tag is the only script here loaded from anyone else's server, and the only thing that sets a cookie. There is no advertising, there are no social widgets, and all fonts, images and calculator code come from this domain. Block the tag with an extension or your browser's tracking protection and nothing on the site breaks: every calculator still runs, the report still builds, and the page still prints.
The host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses and requested URLs, in the normal course of serving a page. Those are not linked to the mailing list and are not used to build a profile of anyone.
Affiliate links
Some gear recommendations use affiliate links, and any page carrying one says so on the page. An affiliate link tells the retailer we sent you. It does not tell us who you are, and it never changes what gets recommended.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and the mailing list is not for anyone under 13. If a child's address ends up on it, write in and it is removed.
Changes, and how to reach us
If this page changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes and anyone on the list hears about it before it takes effect. For anything else, including a request to see or delete what is held about you, write to the address on the about page.
